Dream, Release, Reflect: Preparing Your Heart for a New Year
If you’re in the Northern hemisphere, you are quickly approaching the shortest day of the year. It might be dark when you get up and before you’re done with work. I remember as a child in school during the day wondering about that, wishing I could enjoy some sun.
I was speaking with a friend this week, asking her what she was planning over the next few weeks. She replied “nothing!” with a kind of glee. She is looking forward to staying home, sleeping in, and doing nothing more than reading books and being with her family.
She reminded me that this is a good time to dream and to let things go. To set intentions for the next year and to review the past year: what did I accomplish? did I fulfill the intentions I set? and if not, what stopped me?
Taking a look at how we did, where we were stuck, and what we can learn from that going forward will almost certainly help us gain clarity for our next year’s journey.
Here’s a blog on setting intentions I wrote last year. I believe it’s a wonderful way to set your North Star and steer by it. For that reason, I’ll be offering a live online talk about setting intentions early in the new year.
Stay tuned!
Quote of the Week
Intention determines outcome. And if you’re stuck and not moving forward, you have to check the thought and the action that created the circumstance.
